WRAP Program – Weeping Tile Removal Assistance

Metro Plumbing is proud to support the Weeping Tile Removal Assistance Program (WRAP), which provides eligible homeowners with a rebate to reduce the risk of basement flooding. This program assists with the disconnection of weeping tiles from the sanitary sewer and the installation of backwater valves and sump pumps, which help prevent sewer backups during heavy rainfall.

What is a Weeping Tile?
A weeping tile, also known as a foundation drain, is a small pipe that drains groundwater away from your home’s foundation. Older homes often have weeping tiles connected directly to the sanitary sewer, or they may be connected to a sump pump that pumps the water either into a sewer or to the ground surface outside the house.

Why Disconnect Weeping Tiles?
Weeping tiles connected to the sewer system can overload it during heavy rain, potentially causing sewage overflowing into your basement. Disconnecting these tiles and installing a sump pump helps manage water and reduce flooding risks.

How Does a Backwater Valve Work?
A backwater valve prevents sewage from backing up into your home by automatically closing if sewer flows reverse during a storm. This is a critical defense in protecting your basement from flood damage.

Financial Support
Eligible homeowners may receive up to $4,000 for sump pump installation and up to $1,200 for a backwater valve. Participation requires hiring a licensed plumber and following the program’s guidelines.
